The Kitchen Floor is a space for practical, hopeful living—trauma-informed, adoption-aware, and rooted in faith that guides us toward cleaner, kinder choices every day.

A warmly lit, well-worn kitchen floor made of honey-toned hardwood planks, lightly scuffed and textured, stretches across the foreground in photographic realism. Against simple white lower cabinets, a single, neatly folded soft gray dish towel rests near a ceramic mug set directly on the floor, hinting at an unhurried conversation. Late afternoon sunlight filters through an unseen window, creating long, gentle bands of light and shadow across the boards. Shot from a low, eye-level angle, with the floor in sharp focus and cabinets softly blurred, the composition follows the rule of thirds. The mood is reflective, safe, and inviting, suggesting a sacred, quiet pause in the middle of everyday life in a clean, uncluttered home.
A spotless, matte-finished tile kitchen floor in pale warm gray fills the frame, with a simple, open Bible lying gently open near a small, well-used leather journal and a pen, all resting directly on the floor. Nearby, a lightly steamed white ceramic mug of herbal tea adds a sense of comfort. Soft morning light streams in from the left, filtered through sheer curtains, casting delicate, diffuse shadows and a calm glow over the scene. Captured from a slightly elevated angle with shallow depth of field, the focus rests on the open pages and journal, while the background cabinets and baseboards fade into a gentle blur. The atmosphere is contemplative, centered on quiet Christian devotion and clean living in a serene, organized kitchen.
A clean, light oak kitchen floor forms the base of the scene, with a small cluster of carefully chosen objects arranged in a loose circle: a plush, folded neutral-toned blanket, a wooden toy block, a simple ceramic candle in soft white, and a small potted plant with rich green leaves in a minimalist clay pot. No people are present, only the traces of family life. Golden hour sunlight slants in from a side window, creating warm highlights along the wood grain and soft, comforting shadows around each item. Photographic realism, shot from directly above in a bird’s-eye view, emphasizes symmetry and gentle order. The mood is tender and protective, evoking parenting, trauma healing, and sacred family moments shared on the kitchen floor.

Hi! I’m Jen, and I’m so glad you have found this space. My prayer is that you feel seen, known, and loved while reading through some of what I have experienced and am learning. If you came here thinking you would find all the answers to life’s struggles, how to be perfect, never stumble on your walk with the Lord, or maintain the highest level of clean living, you will be sorely disappointed. In contrast, my journey has been far from perfect, but none of it has gone wasted.

Over the years, the moments I was most vulnerable and needed a sacred space have been found on my kitchen floor. I’ve lost count of the number of times young women have graced my kitchen floor carrying the weight of their worlds and looking for a listening ear, therapeutic safety, or just wanting to chat while I cook dinner or care for my family. The kitchen floor has become a sacred space for us all, and I pray you find hope here, too.

A modern, minimalist kitchen floor of matte, light concrete extends across the image, smooth and impeccably clean, with subtle variations in tone adding texture. Near the center, a simple woven jute floor cushion sits slightly askew beside a small, open notebook with neat, handwritten lines visible, and a clear glass of filtered water with a slice of lemon resting on a cork coaster. In the background, a sleek white lower cabinet line and a single, thriving countertop herb plant are softly blurred. Soft evening light from recessed warm pendant fixtures overhead creates a cozy, golden wash with gentle, rounded shadows. Captured at a slight diagonal from knee height, the composition is calm and balanced. The mood is introspective yet hopeful, embodying clean living, emotional processing, and honest marriage or relationship conversations that unfold on the kitchen floor.
